Fitrana Calculatorفطرانہ

Fitrana — Zakat al-Fitr — is due for every member of your household before the Eid prayer, so that no one is left without food on the day of Eid. Choose your country, count your household, and we multiply by that country's published per-person rate.

Your fitrana estimate

Rs 1,200

4 persons × Rs 300 per person, per Pakistan's cited rate.

Fitrana must reach the poor before the Eid prayer — do not leave it to the last hour.

This website provides educational estimates only — it is not a fatwa and does not replace a qualified scholar. Fidya, Fitrana and Kaffarah amounts change every year and differ by locality, staple-food prices and scholarly opinion. Always confirm the current amount for your area with your local mosque or a scholar before you pay.

Why fitrana is per person, not per wealth

Unlike yearly zakat — 2.5% of qualifying wealth — fitrana is a flat amount per head. It is owed by every Muslim who has food beyond their own need on the day of Eid, on behalf of themselves and their dependants. Its two purposes are given in the hadith: it purifies the fast from careless talk and mistakes, and it puts food in the hands of the poor in time for Eid.

The amount is one sa' of staple food — the measure used in the time of the Prophet ﷺ, roughly 2.5–3 kg of wheat, rice, dates or the local staple — or its money value, as announced each year by councils and charities. Those announcements are exactly what this calculator uses, cited beside the result.

How the calculation works

Total fitrana = people × per-person rate. Example: a household of five in Pakistan paying on wheat at the Council of Islamic Ideology's Ramadan 2026 rate is 5 × Rs 300 = Rs 1,500. The same family in the UK at Islamic Relief's £5 per person is £25, and in the UAE at the UAE Fatwa Council's rate, 5 × AED 25 = AED 125.

Fitrana questions, answered

It is the fixed charity every able Muslim pays at the end of Ramadan, before the Eid prayer — one sa' (about 2.5–3 kg) of staple food, or its value, for each person. The Prophet ﷺ ordained it 'to purify the fasting person from idle and indecent words, and to provide food for the needy' (Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah).
