Fidya Calculatorفدیہ

Fidya is the compensation for a Ramadan fast that can never be made up. Allah says: “…and upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] — a ransom [fidya] of feeding a poor person…” (Qur'an 2:184). Enter your country and the fasts you can never make up; we multiply by that country's published, cited rate.

Rate source: Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), Pakistan — rates announced for Ramadan 2026. Pay according to your staple and means; on the government-subsidised flour rate the CII minimum is Rs 200. View source ↗

Your fidya estimate

Rs 9,000

30 missed fasts × Rs 300 per day — feeding one poor person for each fast, per Pakistan's cited rate.

Giving more than the minimum is encouraged for those who are able.

This website provides educational estimates only — it is not a fatwa and does not replace a qualified scholar. Fidya, Fitrana and Kaffarah amounts change every year and differ by locality, staple-food prices and scholarly opinion. Always confirm the current amount for your area with your local mosque or a scholar before you pay.

Who fidya is — and is not — for

Fidya exists for permanent inability: old age and frailty, or a chronic illness with no expected cure that makes fasting dangerous. It does not apply when the reason is temporary. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, travel, menstruation and short illnesses are dealt with by making the fasts up later — and in the Hanafi school even a pregnant or nursing mother does not pay fidya, because she is expected to make the fasts up when she can.

The measure of fidya is one day's food for one poor person: classically about 2 kg of wheat (half a sa') or its value, or two meals. Charities and councils in each country turn that measure into a money figure every year — those are the figures this calculator uses, each one cited beside the calculator.

How the calculation works

Total fidya = missed fasts × per-day rate. Example: a full Ramadan of 30 fasts in Pakistan at the Council of Islamic Ideology's wheat rate for Ramadan 2026 is 30 × Rs 300 = Rs 9,000 — the same 30-day figure the CII itself announced. In the UK, 30 fasts at Islamic Relief's £5 per fast is £150.

Fidya questions, answered

Fidya is for a Muslim who cannot fast in Ramadan AND has no realistic hope of ever making those fasts up — for example, a frail elderly person or someone with a permanent illness. If you expect to recover, or you missed fasts through travel or a temporary illness, the missed fasts are made up later (qada) instead — fidya is not a shortcut and does not replace fasts you are able to keep later.
